Nazareth

Nazareth = Nazareth:One of the holy cities for Christians all over the world,it lies in lower Galilee at a height of about 1250 feet above sea level.Nazareth is also called the city of Annunciation.In nazareth Jesus spent his childhood walking the narrow roads of Nazareth, Luke 4:28-29

Hail Mary = And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,of th house of David,and the virgin's name was Mary.And the angel came in unto her and said Hail,thou that art highly favoured,the Lord is with thee,blessed art thou among women. Luke 1:26-28

And the angel said unto her,Fear not,Mary,thou hast found favour with God.And behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son and shalt call his name Jesus. Luke 1:30-31

002 = The Church of The Annunciation
The present Basilica of the Annunciation was built by the famous Italian architect G.Muzio and inaugurated on March 25, 1969.The entire area was excavated before the Franciscans built the church between the years 1960-68.The beautiful 250 feet high and 130 feet long church is one of the largest christian sanctuaries in the Middle east.Upon the ruins of previous churches two interconnected churches decorated with statues and built of stone were erected In the lower church is the grotto which is the traditional site of the Annunciation.The upper church contains many beauigrl mosaics,frescoes and sculptures.

005 = Grotto of the Annunciation
The Grotto,the holiest spot in the whloe site,in lighted by the oculus above it. To the left and right of the Grotto are,the remains of two Crusader columns,also steps leading up to the upper church.

007 = Greek Orthodox Church of St. Gabriel's
In 1750 the Greeks built the present chruch,it has a beautiful iconstasis.

008 = Mary's Well
In the Apocryphal Gospels it says that it was here near the Fountain of Nazareth that Angel appeared firest to the Virgin.

009 = Greek Orthodox church of St.Gabriel(Church of Annunciation) interior,with a beautiful iconstasis. Behind the small gate is the altar.

011 = The main source of Mary's Well.It is under the crypt of the church.

012 = The Salesian School next to the Salesian Church-Nazareth.
