The Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles
Afghanistan

[Flag]Known as "the Crossroads of Central Asia" because of its location in the center of Iran, Pakistan, China and the former USSR, the Republic of Afghanistan is a dry, mountainous land with many fertile valleys. After the fall of the communist regime in 1992, disunity among the mujahidin guerrillas and the interim government brought about a civil war. Beginning as an Islamic holy war or jihad, it has further degenerated into a cruel contest for power, ethnic superiority and religious supremacy.

Afghanistan is one of the least reached lands in the world, with 48,000 mosques but not a single church building, nor a viable fellowship of believers in any but a few of the indigenous peoples of the country.
