The Congo

 [Flag] The Republic of Congo, a country in west central Africa, is bounded on the north by Cameroon and the Central African Republic, on the east and south by Zaire, west by the Atlantic Ocean and the northwest by Gabon. Over 60% of the country is covered with tropical rainforest.

Independent from France since 1960, the Congo went through a period of control under the Marxist-Leninist People's Republic, then in 1992 constitutional reform opened the way for multi-party democracy. During the Marxist period, the youth were heavily indoctrinated against religion. All restrictions have now been removed and freedom of religion declared. The needs for evangelization must be better researched.
