Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Quaid-i-Azam or Father of the Nation, became Pakistan's first Governor General and led the nation till his death on September 11, 1948. He was succeeded by Liaquat Ali Khan, a great League stalwart and comrade, as the first Prime Minister of Pakistan.
